2007 Square Foot Club

We need your help this year, 2007. We are increasing our construction to three homes. Please consider increasing your contribution this year. Buy one or more square feet at $65 per square foot. We ask that you prayerfully consider your contribution.

This summer we will dedicate homes #52, #53, and #54. These are indeed exciting times for Garrett County Habitat for Humanity as we celebrate our 23rd year building decent and affordable homes. Only the deep concern and generosity of people like you have made this kind of hope and new life possible.

The 2000 census showed that 62 families in Garrett County do not have modern indoor plumbing, and that over 250 families live in two rooms or less. Garrett County has significant need for decent affordable housing. The new term is "work force housing". Garrett County has a housing crisis.

We have many challenges: the increased cost of infrastructure, sewer and water tap, road and water management systems and the sky rocketing cost of building materials all add up to increased costs. We are having a difficult time. Garrett County Habitat for Humanity has built on faith each and every year, and this year is no exception. Please support our ministry. Mail a generous check today.

On average, it costs us $65 per square foot to build a house here in Garrett County. The cost to build a Habitat house is less because our houses are built almost entirely with volunteer labor.

If you would like more information, please feel free to call the office and speak with Doug Riley, our Executive Director, or leave a message, and he or one of the Board Members will return your call.
